We are very excited that Soo Burnell is returning to Paris and the beautiful Molitor after last exhibiting here in winter 2021/22.
‘Into the Blue’ will showcase Soo’s new photographic collection of poolside images, taken at six stunning pools across Paris.
“There is something abut the stillness of these spaces. Light dancing on water, reflections shimmering as you gaze up into the vaulted roof space high above, you breathe into the stillness and glide into the blue.”
Opening Night: 7th December 2023 at Molitor.
Soo Burnell @ The Ostend International Photo Biennale 2023
Artist Soo Burnell’s new photographic collection is a love letter to Edinburgh, the city she grew up in, and the city she still calls home. As she says: “I wanted to capture an Edinburgh that locals would know; the familiar places that perhaps people have forgotten about.”
We are delighted to share with you that Soo Burnell will be the first Artist to exhibit in Edinburgh’s brand new Gleneagles townhouse on St Andrew Square, The first expansion from the iconic Gleneagles hotel in Perthshire.
The exhibition, Bodies of Water is intended to challenge the building’s once conservative past, Soo will be exhibiting her collection of poolside imagery throughout August at Gleneagles Townhouse.
We are SO excited to share with you that Poolside is going to New York this summer!
'To the Water’ will run between the 17th and 30th of June 2022 in Whalebone Gallery on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village.
The exhibition features a collection of Swimming pool photographs from across the UK and Europe, offering a stripped-back insight into how these buildings appear in their purest architectural form. Soo will be there in New York chatting to our friends at Accidentally Wes Anderson and signing copies of her book. Please get in touch for more details.
A Photographic Exhibition Presented By The Old Bank Vault
Private View: 5 May, 6-9 pm
The Old Bank Vault presents SERENITY, a group exhibition of photographic works by Soo Burnell, Jo de Banzie and Kate O’Neill, highlighting alternative processes and celebrating the poignant, devoted relationship of the artist and their practice.
This exhibition weaves together separate bodies of work by three different artists, illuminating themes of transience, nostalgia, and story-telling while praising their individual techniques and various approaches to the print process. From digital photographic prints to polaroids, silver gelatin prints to cyanotypes - this is a showcase of beautifully constructed concepts and images by artists immersed in their processes.
Works on show include To The Water by Soo Burnell, May by Jo de Banzie and [RE]CONDITION by Kate Ormond O’Neill.
The viewer is invited to enjoy the individual artworks on display, as well as take in the whole exhibition as a means of drawing their own stories under the common narratives.
SERENITY opens at The Old Bank Vault Gallery on May 5th 2022 and runs until May 29th with a programme of online and in-person events happening throughout, stay tuned to TOBV website and social media for dates and events.
Soo Burnell will be at Lifestory in Edinburgh on Sunday the 27th of February between 1400 & 1600. You can see the prints that should be hanging on the wall of the Scottish Royal Academy were it not for the pandemic.

Soo Burnell will be launching her first book during an exhibition featuring new work at Saorsa Art Gallery, Stockbridge, Edinburgh in July.
This book contains a collection of Swimming pool photographs from across the UK and Europe. Each offers a stripped-back insight into how these buildings appear in their purest architectural form: when they are quiet and the water is still. They are a window into a hidden world, a glimpse into the past, and invite us to return to the water
We look forward seeing you there.
Open 12:00 till 17:00 each day.
A great chance to come and see Soo's new work in the wonderful setting of the Royal Commonwealth Pool, Edinburgh.
